Hurricane Commerce has become a member of the International Chamber of Commerce.
The ICC is a leading business organisation advising governments around the world.
The digitalisation of global supply chains is a top global and UK priority and the ICC’s central priority for digital trade is to make trade cheaper, faster, quicker, and more sustainable and inclusive.
The core focus is to establish an interoperable digital trading environment which entails removing legal barriers and standardisation.
One of the ICC’s key projects is the world’s first centre dedicated to accelerating the digitalisation of trade, which is in the Tees Valley.
Digitalisation could cut trade costs by 80% and generate £25bn of SME export growth and an additional £1bn in SME trade finance, halving the country’s trade finance gap.
The centre is being coordinated by the International Chamber of Commerce United Kingdom and supported by the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority, industry and government.
It will provide a focal point to bring together initiatives and expertise and enable industry and government to scale up efforts to digitalise and standardise trade systems.
Hurricane’s representation within the ICC will be led by co-founder and compliance specialist Martin Palmer.
Martin said: “This is an exciting time for Hurricane to join the ICC with digitisation and the importance of data in global supply chains right at the top of the agenda.
“We are looking forward to sharing our expertise and advice in the many forums offered by the ICC including working groups, conferences and other events.”
