Hurricane Commerce helps Magento users with cross border compliance

Hurricane Commerce has joined the Magento Technology Partner Program to offer retailers a cross-border solution to ease the ever-evolving demands of regulatory matters, duties & taxes and product classification.

The British technology company’s upcoming release of its cross-border API solutions will help to improve the customer experience on any cross-border transactions for Magento merchants. The Hurricane extension will be available to Magento merchants in the New Year.

Magento, an Adobe subsidiary, is a leading provider of commerce innovation to merchants across B2C, B2B and hybrid industries. Its Technology Partner program recognizes best-in-class software and service providers, which extend the Magento commerce platform and arm merchants with the technology and functionality they need to drive business growth.

“We are pleased to welcome Hurricane as a Technology Partner and look forward to helping our joint merchants accelerate growth through great cross-border commerce experiences,” said Ryan Murden, Head of Business Development at Magento.

Martyn Noble, CEO of Hurricane Commerce, added: “Cart abandonment rates currently sit at 75% with 55% of customers saying they would not shop at the same business if they were hit with unexpected charges.

Hurricane offers a solution to this problem, which can affect businesses of all sizes. Being transparent with customers about the total cost of a purchase will mean they are more confident in the merchant’s service and will also ensure that the merchant remains compliant in international trade. This added customer confidence can result in up to a 24% increase in revenue.”

The Hurricane solution can be easily integrated with Magento. Using a true, bespoke AI called Bluestone, it simplifies the product classification process and helps businesses stay compliant in the ever-changing global regulatory market. It also allows merchants to stay up to date with all customs requirements and the need for the recently announced Advance Data Capture in cross border shipments.

With precise product classification, Hurricane is able to accurately work out the import
duties and taxes payable for these products. This eliminates any possible unexpected or surprise fees that are often passed onto the customer.

Hurricane Commerce provides cross-border API solutions to the Logistics, Postal and eCommerce sectors. It recently signed a deal with Escher Group to help the US company’s postal clients to meet all regulatory requirements, provide better cost transparency and improve customer loyalty.
