Hurricane, the world leader in data solutions to power global trade, has announced three senior appointments.
Robert Dundas is promoted to Sales Director from his previous role as one of the business’s Business Development Directors. In his new role, Rob will lead on all sales development and account management activity across the UK, EU, North America, Middle East and Asia.
Hurricane has also announced Tom Lee is promoted to Technical Director from his previous role as Head of Engineering. In this role Tom will take on additional product innovation responsibility as well as positioning the team for further global growth.
Hurricane’s Programme Director Neil Harmer takes up the position of Operations Director. Neil leads the client facing implementation functions and his role expands to include managing the day-to-day functions around client support and communications.
Hurricane’s product expansion and client traction have grown exponentially from its early origins within data solutions for cross-border postal flows, where it has over 30 postal clients across the globe and is a member of the Universal Postal Union’s prestigious Consultative Committee. It now provides data solutions to other sectors within the global supply chains as digitisation advances and regulatory and compliance measures increase in complexity.
Those other sectors in the logistical supply chain include carriers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, air cargo, retailers, marketplaces, fintech and tax tech, all of which require data solutions that improve operating efficiency, first time accuracy, depth and breadth of deep learning AI content which are all performed at scale and speed.
Earlier this year, Hurricane rolled out its world-first all-in-one API, Kona, which covers the critical areas of data validation, duty and tax calculation, prohibited and restricted goods screening, dangerous goods screening, sanctions screening and denied parties screening, all of which improve cross-border flows, lessen data and fiscal rework and mitigate compliance risk.
Due to its unique modular nature, customers can choose the solutions it most urgently needs, whether that is one or all of the product’s functionalities.
Martyn Noble, CEO of Hurricane Commerce, said: “These senior appointments of Rob, Neil and Tom are hugely deserved and are of critical importance for two reasons.
“The first reason is that core to the DNA of Hurricane is to develop its people to their next role and the one after that. Rob, Neil and Tom have harnessed that opportunity, worked hard and delivered, and are now being rewarded for their efforts.
“The second reason is that as Hurricane enters its high growth stage, the organisation is in balance with Rob driving client traction in existing and new sectors, Tom ensuring that we continue to perform technically at pace to meet market requirements and Neil building out organisational processes with customer centricity, efficiency and effectiveness at the core as the company scales globally.
“In just under eight years, Hurricane has gone from being the data provider of choice to the postal sector to now having customers and partners across the full scope of the logistical supply chain and on six different continents.”
Martyn added: “Regulatory events such as Import Control System in the European Union and Entry Type 86 in the United States mean that complete, accurate and valid data has never been so important. Failure to provide the required data is severely impacting businesses including fines, penalties and licence suspensions. It’s also causing huge operational efficiencies and reputational damage.
“By contrast, those who have harnessed fully automated data solutions are giving themselves competitive advantage in global trade.”
