Hurricane and Plusius Combine Data and Finance to Power the Future of Global Trade

Hurricane and Plusius combine forces into the world’s most geographically connected cross border API ecosystem, resulting in a cost-effective DDP (Deliver Duty Paid) operating system for a constantly changing global trade landscape

Hurricane Commerce and Plusius have joined forces to create a single API ecosystem that combines next generation cross border data with regulated financial flows, delivering a fully integrated Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) operating system for merchants, marketplaces, and logistics providers navigating today’s unpredictable global trade environment.

This landmark integration brings Hurricane’s proven ‘all in one’ API together with Plusius’s regulated payments infrastructure, aligning customs data and financial compliance in one ecosystem. As tariffs, de minimis thresholds, and customs requirements shift around the world including renewed tariff activity in the US under President Trump and rapidly evolving rules across Europe, LATAM, MENA, and APAC Hurricane and Plusius offer a truly global platform, engineered for resilience and scale.

The integrated solution delivers a single API for connectivity, product classification, restrictions and sanctions screening, duty and tax calculation, payment capture, cross border transactions, escrowing, and full lifecycle reconciliation. Every step, from HS code assignment to final payment of taxes, is synchronised, fully auditable, and performs real-time compliance checks prior to goods movement. This preclearance by design reduces interventions at the border, speeds up last mile delivery, and optimises operational efficiency for cross border shippers.

This is a joining of two proven specialists. Hurricane is trusted for customs and compliance data at scale, while Plusius is trusted for regulated financial flows. Together, they provide the combined expertise customers need in a fast-changing world.

“Hurricane is the data engine that keeps trade moving validating, structuring, and classifying every shipment at source, and calculating duties and taxes with accuracy. Now, linked with Plusius, those data outputs drive regulated payment flows that collect and pay duty and tax automatically, all within a highly connected and compliant API environment.”

Martin Palmer, Co-Founder of Hurricane Commerce

“We’re synchronising the intelligence that drives customs decisions with the regulated financial layer that moves money. The result is the world’s best connected, scalable DDP platform predictable, compliant, and cost-effective. It’s one API for full trade lifecycle management in every market.”

Martyn Noble, CEO of Hurricane

“Plusius links financial regulation directly to the data powering global trade. Integrated with Hurricane, every duty and tax event is captured, reconciled, and reported in real time; merchants see exactly what was declared, paid, and where funds are, creating worldwide trust and compliance from origin to destination.”

Tobias Ohlsén, CEO of Plusius

Key features of the combined solution include:

  • Unified API for product data validation, HS classification, screening, duty calculation, payment, and reconciliation
  • Preclearance preparation and validation before shipping for faster, more predictable delivery
  • Regulated financial controls, real-time transactions, escrowing, and complete audit trails
  • Automation that reduces manual clearance prep, enhances compliance, and improves customer experience
  • Scalability for tariff, de minimis, and compliance changes globally, including ICS2 in Europe and reforms in North America

Hurricane’s recent webinar, Global Trade Twists, brought the customs and compliance lifecycle to life by putting data firmly at the centre. At origin, Hurricane turns theory into action: product data is enriched, classified, and risk reviewed; duties and taxes are calculated and displayed; data is prepared for seamless submission. In perfect alignment, Plusius powers the financial side with regulated rails prepaying and remitting duties and taxes in step with the data flow, while ensuring every transaction is automatically reconciled and fully auditable.

Powered by data and underpinned by regulated payment rails, the Hurricane Plusius partnership sets a new global standard in compliant, connected cross border trade.
