DG partners with Hurricane Commerce to provide end to end cross border data solutions

Global logistics specialist DG has selected Hurricane Commerce as its cross-border data partner.

The decision to integrate Hurricane’s solutions forms a key part of DG’s ongoing digital transformation programme to enhance the experience of their customers.

DG has integrated Hurricane’s Aura solution which covers the critical cross-border areas of duty and tax calculation, prohibited and restricted goods screening and denied parties screening as well as Zephyr, its bulk clearance data enhancement service.

Hurricane’s solutions can be accessed through DG’s Horizon portal, a one-stop shop for customers to efficiently manage their global supply chain and multimodal transport requirements.
DG selected Hurricane after its cross-border delivery business, Pro Carrier, successfully integrated its data solutions at the end of last year to support its UK eCommerce retailer customers with their cross-border trade.

Major regulatory changes including Brexit, the US STOP Act and the abolition of the VAT exemption on low value goods in the EU and elsewhere has transformed the landscape of global eCommerce in 2021 with complete and accurate shipment data now mandatory.

Leah Samy, DG’s Head of IT and Business Change, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our customers Hurricane’s best-in-class data solutions. Having accurate product descriptions, HS6 codes and being able to correctly calculate the applicable duty and VAT in real-time are business critical in the modern world of eCommerce.

Hurricane’s real-time screening services for prohibited and restricted goods and denied parties are also hugely important in ensuring our customers are shipping with confidence and with full compliance.

“Hurricane’s solutions are an integral part of our Horizon platform and DG’s commitment to providing our customers with the best possible experience.”

Vincent Miles, DG’s Communities Administrator, said: “Our customers are already benefiting from Hurricane’s data solutions, ensuring accuracy with their commodity codes, duty and tax calculations and product screening. Having the right data is essential for a business to grow existing markets and move into new ones.”

Martyn Noble, CEO of Hurricane Commerce, said: “DG is one of the fastest growing logistics providers in the world and they are at the cutting edge in their approach to digitisation.

“We are delighted that our suite of world-leading data solutions form a key part of the Horizon platform and the desire to provide end-to-end visibility and the best possible customer experience.”
